The Chauhan family is saddened to announce the passing of Arjun Wickram Chauhan on August 18th, 2023, at the age of 65. He passed in his home in Kamloops, BC after a prolonged battle with his health.
Arjun was born on February 27, 1958 in Mumbai, India and immigrated to Kamloops at a young age. He attended and graduated from NorKam Secondary school in 1975. Arjun pursued further education in Forestry and Natural Resource Management at BCIT and dedicated his career to the horticulture and landscape development sectors, working primarily in Vancouver Island and Northern Alberta until his early retirement in 2013. He then decided to return to his hometown of Kamloops.

Arjun will be remembered for his infectious smile and his compassionate and giving nature. He was extremely curious (he loved a good debate!) and had a passion for music, art, horticulture, and spiritual wisdom. He’d share news and information with anyone who would listen. He enjoyed playing golf, tennis and martial arts.
Despite his own personal struggles, Arjun kept his faith and prayed for the health and prosperity of loved ones and for those battling homelessness, addiction and loss.
Arjun kept photos, messages and notes in his home as a constant reminder and connection to those that he held close to his heart. He was a consistent supporter of the Kamloops Food Bank and spent his time and resources working to assist Ukrainian refugees.
Arjun is preceded by his father, Inderjeet Wickram Chauhan, and mother, Rita Elizabeth Chauhan. He is survived by his 2 sisters Indira Rempel, Sarina Chauhan and by his 3 children: Reuben Chauhan, John Chauhan (Stephanie, Ethan, Myles) and Kyla Steinley (Ben, Liara).
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date in accordance with the family’s wishes.
Memorial donations can be made in Arjun’s name to the Kamloops Food Bank, 171 Wilson St, Kamloops, BC V2B 2M8.

Dear Chauhan family
We were deeply saddened to hear of Arjun’s passing. Barb and I went to school with Arjun and we attended Young Adults together at times. Our paths crossed several times over the past 40 years. I recall the last length conversation I had with Arjun at an art show a few years ago. Intense but so valuable. I enjoyed every conversation we shared over the years.
We are deeply sorry for your loss. We will keep the Chauhan in our prayers. May God, the Prince of Peace comfort each of you.
Love Larry and Barb

I am saddened by Arjun’s sudden passing. He was such a thoughtful person. I remember playing with him when we were growing up in India— always laughing and sometimes being naughty! Our family will miss him greatly but we know that he is surrounded by loved family members that have gone before him. God is great and he will give him Peace that he deserved.

I first met Arjun when he visited India on vacation and I visited him in Campbell River many years later. Our paths crossed again in Kamloops and Arjun established contact with me by telephone recently and kept me updated on his side of the family.
Arjun was a Chauhan (you have to be one to know one). He lived life on his terms his way.
Saddened by Arjun’s passing. May he RIP. My heartfelt condolences to his loved ones.
Indira
So true Rajdeep

Dear Reuben, John, Kyla, Indira and Sarina,
It was with much shock and sadness I learned of Arjun’s sudden passing. Though he lived life on his own terms, he provided love and care for many others. I have several cherished memories of playing (and adventure) with Arjun as children.
We played together as children, and were taken to task by Aunty Rita one Halloween for being (rather) reckless with firecrackers – holding them for as long as possible before throwing them. On another occasion we were again chided for having “dirt-lump” wars … the detritus of which unfortunately ended up in the basement entryway of their home (kids – sigh!).
My parents had a teal blue1965 Rambler station wagon into which several families would pile in and go for “drives” on weekends. At that time, Kamloops was quite undeveloped, and gravel roads were everywhere. On particular drive, with several of us young boys in the “back”, my Dad suddenly stopped the car, and began backing up.
He lowered the rear window, stepped out, and asked for a cardboard box. Without too much discussion he handed the box back to us in the rear of the car. As the drive continued, we heard sounds coming from the box, and soon curiosity overcame us. Gingerly peeking in we found the remains of a rattlesnake that had just been run over.
When we got back to their home, we also discovered that the snake had not yet expired!!
May each one of you, his family and legacy be filled with much love, joy and peace in the days ahead. You remain in my prayers.
Indira
Thank you Ajay! I also remember that car!

I have so many fond memories of your dad.
I laughed when I read that he loved a good debate because him and I had a few!
I hope the memories that you have of him

Your dad was an awesome guy.
