The family of Bruce Edward Fleck is sad to announce his passing on November 1, 2023 in Kamloops BC.
Bruce was born to Allan and Donna Fleck on April 10, 1976 in Baden Baden Germany where Al was stationed. Older brothers Raye and Craig also welcomed him to the family. The Flecks moved to Edmonton Alberta for a short time before settling in Quesnel BC in 1988. Bruce would spend the rest of his childhood and teen years in Quesnel where he made many friends and spent time with his mom’s family, the Glassfords.
Bruce began his career as a chef in Quesnel, and it took him to Prince George, Kamloops, St. Albert Alberta and back to Kamloops. Bruce also tried a few other careers related to food and drink, such as a meat cutter, baker and even worked in a brewery, but always returned to cooking.

In 2003, Bruce married Ardice Marple who he met in Quesnel as a teenager. In 2007, they welcomed their first son, Xavier Edward, to the family, followed by Dexter Chadwick in 2009. Although Bruce and Ardice separated, they continued to co-parent “The Dudes” together.
In 2010, Bruce’s mom Donna passed away, leaving a huge hole in his heart.
Bruce always enjoyed having conversations with people and learning new things. He took pride in knowing “useless trivia” and sharing these tidbits with others. He was known for his eclectic music taste and listened to music no matter what he was doing and attended concerts when he could. He collected many things from rocks, to books, to tattoos, to trinkets he discovered in thrift stores, all depending on what his interests were at the moment. His excitement was obvious when he shared his collections and knowledge with people, and he was equally excited when someone shared their interests and knowledge with him. He frequently gathered with a variety of people for various game nights. Bruce was fun and easygoing, and made friends everywhere he went. His unique personality made him memorable to all who met him.
In lieu of flowers, please honour Bruce’s memory by making a donation in his name to The BC Cancer Foundation, the Kamloops Hospice Association, The Canadian Mental Health Association (Kamloops), The BC Wildlife Park, your local SPCA, or any other charity of your choice.
Bruce did not want a formal service, but please gather on your own to share stories and memories.
