Darwin Norman Johnson
July 24, 1947 – March 9, 2019

It is with great sadness that we report the sudden death of Darwin Johnson on March 9, 2019.  Born in Kelvington, Saskatchewan, he and his family eventually settled in Invermere, B.C.  He developed many skills throughout his life. He worked as a millwright most of his adult life as well as built and ran a successful campground near Little Fort, B.C.  After retirement he volunteered with the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo Association where he accepted any job large or small.  Darwin sat on their Board of Directors for a number years.

This remarkable man had a wonderful upbeat attitude about life, a generous and loving heart, a quirky sense of humour, an unforgettable radiant smile and twinkling blue eyes.  Loving memories of Darwin will remain with his wife Patricia Paula, mother Isla Mae Broadfoot, sons Norman (Maaike) Brown, and Ryan Brown, grandchildren Lucy, Leni, Roewin and Myelo, sisters  Sharon (Carl) Rauch, Lynda (Steve) Malinoski, Charlene (Fred) Miller, and brother Gordon (Toni) Broadfoot.  Family who left this earth before him are his father Norman Nicholas Johnson, brother Daryl Johnson and sister Heather Johnson.

Also mourning his loss are his Aunt Alice Stewart, many cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and a very large extended family of friends, neighbours, and colleagues.

A Celebration of Darwin’s life will be held Saturday, April 13, 2019, at the North Thompson Fall Fair Agriplex in Barriere, B.C. at 1:00 pm.  Arrangements are being made through Drake Cremation & Funeral Services.

Condolences for the family of “Darwin Norman Johnson 1947 – 2019”

Condolence from Arden and Charleen Hinz on April 3rd, 2019 5:59 pm

Pat & the family,
Please accept our deepest sympathy for the loss of Darwin. We got to know Darwin & my husband Arden helped him out with projects at the Fair grounds. We moved to Barriere from Kelvington Sk. and were very surprised when talking to Darwin at our home one day, to find out he was from there as well.
Darwin was such an endearing person & radiated his love for life. We are saddened to hear of his leaving but, has left us with many good memories. We are now living in Drumheller AB & will be unable to attend but, our thoughts go across the miles. It was a privilege to have known him.

Sincerely, Arden & Charleen Hinz

Condolence from Laurie Wait on April 11th, 2019 5:27 am

To Pat and families,
It’s very saddening to hear about Darwin’s passing and my sincere condolences go out to you.
I was blessed knowing Darwin when he was in Fort Nelson and when he relocated to the Overlander at Little Fort. Darwin was a talented man and a friend to all. He will be greatly missed.
Rest in Heaven Darwin.
