We wish to share the news of the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Lillian (Lily) Billett on September 5, 2023 at the age of 85. Lillian will be greatly missed by her two daughters, Shirley Jakubowski (Mike) and Diana Bradley (Troy). Lillian was predeceased by her husband Fred in 2014. She is survived by her five grandchildren, Tania Zwiers (Elijah), Hayley Jakubowski, Aaron Jakubowski, Jaiden Jakubowski, Ashley Bradley (James) and two great grandchildren Sylvie and Beauden Zwiers. She loved her family dearly!
Lillian was born in Toronto, Ontario in 1938 to Walter and Stella Kluba. As the only child, she was raised by her parents in St. Catherines, Ontario. She attended the Ontario School for The Deaf (now known as Sir James Whitney School for the Deaf) in Belleville, Ontario. During her time at school, Lillian made life long friendships. It is through the Deaf Community that she met her husband Fred Billett and they were married in 1964. They raised their family in Mississauga, Ontario and then moved to a small farm in Abbotsford, BC in 1979. There are many wonderful memories held at the Abbotsford farm from graduations to weddings and many visits by the grandchildren. Lillian moved to Kamloops in 2020 to be closer to family. In May 2023, Lillian celebrated her 85th birthday with all of her family in attendance. It was a beautiful day and one of our many loving memories of Lillian. We take solace in knowing she is with our heavenly father.
The family wishes to thank all the care giving staff, nurses, and doctors from the seventh floor at Royal Inland Hospital for their care and compassion while Lillian was there.
In consideration of Lillian’s wishes, she has been cremated and a small private memorial will be held at a future date.
