MaryLee Potestio passed peacefully at home in Kamloops, BC on May 28th, 2021. MaryLee is survived by her husband Tony, daughters Marni and Melissa (Ahmed, Amaia), her mother (Amanda) and many other relatives. She is predeceased by her father Adam.
MaryLee was born on May 30th, 1952 in Wilkie, Saskatchewan, but came to live in Kamloops early in her childhood. MaryLee and Tony met in high school and married on July 10th, 1971, marking the beginning of a journey filled with love, laughter and devotion, which sadly ended six weeks short of their 50th wedding anniversary. MaryLee spent her career working as a dedicated Medical Office Assistant, where she became a trusted and compassionate support person to many patients over the years. After retirement, MaryLee spent her time gardening, visiting craft festivals and spending time with loved ones. MaryLee (“Grammie”) was overjoyed by Amaia’s arrival in 2018 and loved her only granddaughter fiercely. Throughout her illness, MaryLee spent countless hours watching videos of Amaia and would regularly send her care packages filled with toys, clothes and stickers. Marylee also took great joy in spending time with her adopted grandchildren (Alexander, Isabella, Sofia and Maximus), who were able to visit Marylee and Tony at any time through a strategically placed gate between the two houses. Marylee doted on her beloved dog Mia, who clearly ruled the household, and was her dedicated companion for the past 16 years. MaryLee also enjoyed sharing many laughs and participating in hilarious photoshoots with her dear friend, Mary Beall.
MaryLee’s memory will be cherished for her remarkable generousity, kindness and charm; her superb ability to defend what she felt was fair and just, and her marvelous capacity to accomplish anything she set her mind to. MaryLee will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to the BCSPCA in honour of MaryLee’s love for animals.Print This Obituary & Condolences
