Ralph Leslie Saunders
March 22, 1953 – May 23rd 2022
Ralph died suddenly on May 23rd, almost twelve years after a severe brain injury. He was born and educated in Vancouver and eventually made his way to Kamloops. He married Marie in 1979 and they had two sons. After they divorced, he married Kristin in 2000.
He is sadly missed by his wife Kristin, sons Mark and Scott (Krysia) and sisters Gerri (Anne) and Doreen (Eric). He is predeceased by his father Ernie and mother Jean. He worked in several Information Technology jobs, including for Burroughs, Ministry of Highways, Ministry of Forests, and BCLC. He was a true computer geek, but also loved carpentry, gardening and cycling on his road bike. He also liked to volunteer for any games coming to Kamloops such as the 2011 Western Canada Summer Games which sadly took place after his injury.
Ralph had a logical mind and was very environmentally conscious and was sensitive and compassionate. He loved Disneyland and Star Trek and enjoyed cooking with Kristin.
Even after his accident when he couldn’t speak, his therapists loved him. He had expressive eyes and a wonderful smile.
He spent almost eight years as a resident at Overlander Residential Care, then the last three and a half years at home supported by two wonderful full-time care workers and with extra support from Comfort Keepers.
There won’t be a service.
Offer Condolence for the family of Ralph Leslie Saunders 1953 – 2022

I was so sorry to hear of Ralph’s passing. We lost contact with each other over recent years, but he was a good friend from Grade 5 to Grade 12. We shared interests in music, Star Trek, and for awhile, motorcycles. We both rode our motorcycles to Long Beach, Vancouver Island after high school for a week long camping trip. It rained the entire time, but I’ll never forget it.
Rest In Peace, Ralph.

We are very sad to learn of Ralph’s passing. We worked with Ralph and Kristin at BCLC. We remember them as kind, friendly and knowledgeable coworkers. We hope that Kristin is at peace at this time.
