I only met Ray a couple of times, but found him to be a sweet man, loving animals and a good laugh. Very sad that he is gone too soon.

Ray was a good friend who was there for me when I needed help. Ray loved archery and we shot a lot of rounds of 3D together at the club in Courtenay. He loved animals and always had a “greenie” for Feyja my dog when he arrived at the club. He was a kind hearted guy who had cared for his disabled sister for years. I miss my Friday night wellness calls to him, we had a lot in common, both from Montreal, the same age and we even knew some of the same people back home.
Ray was always helping others, he made and gave away so many arrows to people and a few bows also. He had a big heart and just wanted to help and be liked bye others. Sadly Ray left us too early and I miss him. RIP buddy

Ray my friend you are such a kind soul and treated my spouse and I with such overwhelming generosity and kindness and your happiness towards life in general was inspirational.
We were blessed to have had you brighten our days with your presence and will cherish the time we spent with you and your memories will live on in our hearts always and forever.
May you always have a arrow in your bow on its way to a perfect target!
A fish on the line that’s scrappy!
And a spring in your step with a happy tune in your voice, as you travel through eternity in heaven my friend Ray Belanger.
Rest In Peace

Did not know you for long old sod but did appreciate your wisdom. We met at the Canadian Indoor National you helped me calm down after a meltdown. After that when ever we met at shoots or with the British it was like old home week. You are that rare blend of man that bonds people of like minds. I refer to you in the person because I believe you will live forever in the memory of all the Archers

Ray was a good friend and an archery mentor to me as well as many others. Whether shooting techniques, bow building or arrow making, he was a wealth of information that was given freely. Ray was generous to a fault and a great story teller. We enjoyed many a chat around the fire with a glass of wine or fine Irish whisky. Miss you Ray, rest in peace.

We will miss Ray and all that he shared with the Archery group at Courtenay Fish and Game. His stories and knowledge of bows, arrows and life experiences were always welcome. Personally, I was so thankful when he took the time to make a rolling pin cradle for me to surprize my wife at Christmas one year. And when I had run out of steam between work, family issues and Chairing the Archery venue, Ray stepped up to the plate to fill the gap. A man with a big heart.

It was with a heavy heart when we heard of Ray’s passing. We have been good friends since 1968 in Greenwood Nova Scotia and continued in Lahr Germany and remained in contact ever since. Ray was considered as part of our family and we will cherish all the great memories and times we have spent with him.
Rest in peace our friend

To Family of Ray…Please accept my condolences on Ray’s recent passing…I knew Ray from archery at the Courtenay Club. He taught me to shoot and most generously made me a half dozen arrows….I had the pleasure of getting together with Ray at his place in Courtenay quite a few times and enjoyed his upbeat personality, his care of others and generosity…I was impressed how he cared for his sister….He will be missed….Shortly after hearing of his passing, a few of us met at the Courtenay Archery range to share our fond memories of Ray…A great guy and sad to see him leave us so early in life.
