Date of birth : August 9, 1939
Ron was born in a small town called Sheila, New Brunswick in August of 1939. His parents were Donat and Marie-Anne (Robichaud) Sonier. He came from a unique family of 12 siblings.
As a young man, Ron worked as a brick layer and went on to join the army in his early twenties. In 1966, he married Jeannette (Rousselle) and have 2 sons, Dennis and Stephane. In 1970, he and Jeannette, decided to throw caution to the wind and relocated their family across the country to Kamloops, British Columbia, for a fresh start.
Ron worked hard to support his family , as a driller and a commercial painter. Ron’s hobbies included playing the slots at the casino and enjoyed playing crib where he many of his closest friends. During his retirement, he loved to walk to the mall to meet his long time buddy, and play a round or two of Keno.
Ron leaves behind his wonder wife Jeannette of 55 years. His 2 sons , Dennis (Sandy), and Stephane, and 3 grand children , Andrew, Derek, and Zachary.
Ron and Jeannette retired early and were able to enjoy many beautiful trips together. Ron may have liked BC , but his heart was always in New Brunswick where he grew up. He cherished his many friends and neighbours and truly enjoyed their card games in Pritchard.
Our family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Overlander Extended Care, where Ron spent his final years.
Donations in Ron’s memory can be made to the Dementia Society of Canada.
God Bless you, we love you so very much. Rest in peace.
