Stan Bradford

February 8, 1938 – January 12, 2022

Stan Bradford  passed away January 12, 2022, peacefully at his home in Barriere, British Columbia.

He is predeceased by his parents, his wife Margaret and 7 siblings. Stan is the youngest of 9 children.

Stan is survived by children Mona, Darcy (Jana), Rick (Julie), Randy and Sam. He will be missed by his sister Lilly. Stan’s memory will be cherished by his 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Stan’s legacy began when he was born in Williams Lake, BC, and resided in Bridge Lake where there was the family homestead. The Bradford family also worked a fishing camp and Dude ranch. Stan moved further south to Chinook Cove and then finally settling in Barriere, BC.

Stan enjoyed outdoor activities. He loved playing and watching hockey, playing, and coaching baseball. The most memorable were the Barriere Legion Boys, Barriere Trucker’s and the Midnighter’s. He was a grader operator for 40 years and worked for the Department of Highways. Stan could operate equipment of all shapes and sizes. He helped build the Barriere Fall Fair racetrack. Stan and his wife worked many Fall Fair dances. He was a great supporter of the community, Barriere Legion and was involved in the Barriere ambulance station. Stan also took time to do some fishing at Beaver Lake up highway 24. Stan also had time for farming and crib. In later years played to keep his memory sharp. “Stan had your hand counted before you laid it down.”

In Stan’s retirement years his greatest enjoyment was playing on his tractor and quad puttering around the farm.

There will be a gathering to honour Stan at a future date when we can come together again.

    So sorry to hear of Stan’s passing. He was a great bantam softball coach to a bunch of us growing up and our trips throughout BC were memories we will never forget. Stan was well liked n respected, even when we had to yell to pull up those suspenders lol. He will be greatly missed Ward Stamer n family
