It is with great sadness we announce that Vic has passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.
Vic is survived by the love of his life, Joyce, for 54 years. From the day they got married Vic called Joyce “Doll” and continued to this day. Joyce and our family was his priority. He loved all of his dogs over the years but especially had a soft spot for Pixie and Star.
Vic enjoyed fishing, going to car shows with his flashy Cadillac and spending time with his growing family…he also enjoyed going for coffee pretty much every morning and B. S.ing with his buddies.
Anyone who knew Vic enjoyed all of his great stories he loved to tell. When he wasn’t doing these things you could find Vic working tirelessly on projects around the house, tending to his tasty tomatoes in his garden or tinkering in his shop. A family Christmas Eve tradition that he loved was playing Santa for all the grandkids!
Throughout Vic’s life he was involved with and gave generously to the community of Chase. He owned and operated Salmon Arm Paving for many years. He was head Millwright at Holding Lumber Company. He was involved with the Lions Club of Chase.
Vic was on the Chase Council for a couple years. He was also instrumental in building and keeping the outdoor skating rink ready for the kids. Also, Vic worked hard to make the children’s wading pool in Chase a reality.
Vic is survived by his brothers; Bill Covey, Bob Crocker, Rick Skjeie, and sisters Vivian, Diane and Colleen Skjeie.
His Children; Vicki Skjeie, Larry Pittendreigh (Gale), Kelly Skjeie (Cheryl), Fred Pittendreigh (Krista), Donna Foster (Rick) and son-in-law Art Walcott.
Grandchildren; Lyndy Walcott, Josh Bronk, Danielle Adamo (Emilio), Tayler Pittendreigh, Jordan Skjeie, Whitney Skjeie-Walcott, Thomas Skjeie (Nicole), Curtis Pittendreigh, Amanda Anderson (Dan), Decosta Walcott (Ashley), Kristopher Foster (Nicole), Darren Pittendreigh (Jill), Marcie Skjeie.
Great Grandchildren; Brandon Parkes, Billie Parkes, Markus Skjeie, Araya Walcott, Ethan Bronk, Roman Walcott, Cash Adamo, Liam Skjeie, Blythe Adamo.
Vic was predeceased by Father Vic Skjeie, Mother Dora Switner, Brother Jim Skjeie and daughter Jacqui Skjeie-Walcott. Thank you to all the staff at RIH for their compassionate care during his time there. Especially the crew in the Cancer Unit.
Vic will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
