(Feb 12, 1922 – May 11, 2015) – Anna Zyri passed away peacefully on May 11, 2015, at hospice in Kamloops after a short illness at the age of 93. She is survived by her son Paul, daughter Penelope (Mike), grandchildren Jason, Corbin, Tess (Mitch) and Adriel (Tom), great grandchildren Nickolas, Jacob, Isaac, Esme and Quentin. Anna was predeceased by Adam, her late husband of 50 years, and by her eldest daughter Elaine.
Anna was born in Thunder Bay Ontario, on February 12 1922. She was the youngest daughter (5 siblings) of Nickolas and Marie Wukovich. Mum enjoyed and embraced life. She grew up through the “Dirty Thirties Depression” and the Second World War. When Anna completed Grade 12, she worked as a riveter in an airplane plant in Ontario making planes for the war effort. Following the war, Anna married Adam and they started their family, raising 3 children. Growing up, we had the privilege of a “stay at home” Mum. Once her family had grown, Mum enjoyed her working life in shops and volunteering at the Nanaimo Hospital. Then the grandchildren started coming, and Gramma would drop everything for a visit! Anna’s enjoyment also included her long walks with her dogs and quiet moments reading. She always had a beautiful cat sitting beside her on the couch.
We extend a special thank you to the committed and caring staff of the Vernon Restholm and the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home.
There will be a “Wake” for family and friends to pay their respects to Anna at North Thompson Funeral & Drake Cremation Services, 210 Lansdowne Street in Kamloops (telephone 250-377-8225) from 10 am to 4 pm, Monday, May 18, 2015.Print This Obituary & Condolences
